Transcity is undertaking work to relocate a water main located under the Western Freeway at Toowong. The water main relocation is required to enable the excavation of Legacy Way’s entrance and exit lanes.
Transcity started this activity in February and is on track for work to be complete in June 2012. With stage one complete, Transcity will begin stage two of the water main relocation from April.
Stage two involves installing the new pipe underneath the Western Freeway and the bike path at Toowong.
This work will be undertaken in two continuous weekend shifts:
- 8pm Friday 13 April to 5am Monday 16 April
- 8pm Friday 20 April to 5am Monday 23 April.
- Use of lighting towers, flashing lights and white noise reversing beepers for the safety of on-site workers.
- Noise from the use of heavy machinery and equipment.
- Realignment of Western Freeway around the work. There will be no closure or detour of traffic during this work.
- Full closure of a section of the bikeway between Anzac Park and Moggill Road between 9pm Friday 20 April and 4am Monday 23 April 2012. The Western Freeway pedestrian/cyclist overpass will not be affected by these works.
- Signage and traffic control to direct motorists, pedestrians and cyclists around the work as required.
- Water supply will not be affected by this work.
