'SAVE ANZAC PARK' campaign gets a mention in Mt Coot-tha Electorate/QLD State election flyers

The 'SAVE ANZAC PARK' campaign, which ran from November 2010 - April 2011, was  mentioned in two (now three) flyers recently distributed in the Mt Coot-tha Electorate.

Our State Member for Mt Coot-tha, Andrew Fraser, gave invaluable support throughout the campaign to assist the local community to successfully save our local BCC heritage listed war memorial park, ANZAC Park, established in 1916. For one example, read the post, Andrew Fraser MP, State Member for Mt Coot-tha, Speaks Out for the Constituents and Anzac Park... http://saveanzacpark.blogspot.com.au/2010/11/andrew-fraser-mp-state-member-for-mt.html

Thank you Andrew.

Weather station to be installed

Transcity is installing a new weather station this week in the same location as the existing monitoring equipment, adjacent to the Dog Off-Leash Area within ANZAC Park. The purpose of the weather station is to monitor weather parameters such as wind speed, wind direction and rainfall. This will assist Transcity in the management of dust and the interpretation of air quality monitoring results. Additionally rainfall data will be used as part of Transcity’s surface and groundwater monitoring programs.

The weather station is approximately 10 metres tall and is referred to on page 11 of the Transcity Environmental Management Air Quality Sub plan, where it mentions wind monitoring and the 10m mast,  however, this document does not state that the monitoring equipment was to be installed in ANZAC Park. Read the Air Quality Sub plan HERE

Transcity may conduct infrequent maintenance and servicing when required.

The weather station is temporary for the construction phase. Following construction, there is a requirement for monitoring stations in the area during the operational phase, however these locations are to be confirmed.
Transcity is available on 1800 778 772 to answer questions about this equipment.
